About me

My name is Doug. I have a fascination for drawing geometric patterns and seeing what emerges from the complex network of intersecting lines.

I have been creating art as Fractal Roots since 2017 when I got my first laser engraver and began drawing designs. Since then I have been in a process of creative development, exploring geometry and working with different natural materials.

From carving avocado seeds into jewellery, to laser cutting/engraving wood. Working with natural, sustainable/upcycled materials is the way I choose to create.

I love to craft unique and beautiful objects. Each piece I create receives my full care and attention, delicate sanding and hand finishing with a brush.

There is a lot of mass produced jewellery and decor out there. Imitations of art churned out in factories, separating the soul of the creation from its creator. I believe the true value of art comes from the hands that hold it whilst it takes form.

A large part of my passion for creating beauty lies in bespoke work. I love to create custom art and jewellery for individuals and small businesses.
